Colmena seeks to reach Kenyan media outlets

Kenyan journalists, members of the Grand Wave Consortium, participated in an informative session on the possibilities offered by Colmena in the creation of their stories.

The Colmena team started the event with a tour of the beginnings of the platform and continued with a hands-on workshop on its functionalities. The online event was held on December 6 and members of the consortium highlighted the relevance of this type of training and showed their interest and commitment in learning more about Colmena’s software.

“Colmena is a good idea and tool. It will help, especially with persistent network problems,” commented Noah Okiru, Station Manager at Echami FM, highlighting the software’s advantage of working in spaces with poor connectivity.

Journalists appreciated learning about this new digital experience: “We live in fast-changing digital environments, and we have to adapt quickly,” said Samwel Abesi, General Manager at Mitumi Radio.

During 2023, Colmena will continue to create spaces for information and dialogue to reach more media and journalists interested in the application.

Grand Wave Consortium is a consortium of 15 radio stations spread across Kenya that have diverse national cultures and are deeply committed to locally produced programming and media content.
